How Scoring Works

TeeSeed uses difficulty-adjusted differentials, converts them into TSR, then places players into tiers.

1. What is a Differential?

A differential measures how you played relative to the course difficulty.

Differential = (Score - Course Rating) × 113 / Slope Rating

Example

You shot 85 on a course rated 72.1 with slope 131.

(85 - 72.1) × 113 / 131 = 11.1 differential

Lower differential means better performance relative to course difficulty.

Your best 8 differentials from your last 20 rounds are averaged to determine your ranking.

2. What is TSR (TeeSeed Rating)?

TSR converts your differential average into an intuitive skill rating, similar to an Elo-style number.

TSR = 2000 - (Average of Best 8 Differentials × 50)

Example

If your best 8 differentials average 11.1:

TSR = 2000 - (11.1 × 50) = 1,445

Higher TSR means a better golfer. The maximum TSR is 2,000 (scratch-golfer territory).

Players with fewer than 8 rounds are labeled provisional. Their TSR uses available rounds and can move more as more rounds are submitted.

Your tier is based on your current TSR and updates automatically as you submit rounds.

4. How to Improve Your Rating

Play more rounds. More data makes your rating more accurate.

Play consistently. Best 8 of 20 means one bad day does not have to define your rating.

Challenge harder courses. Rating and slope adjust your differential fairly.
